Territory Wars: Offensive Teams

Hello all. The purpose of this post is to outline teams that work on offense, and a little about how they work.

Last updated: 10/01/2018

Here's the table of contents:

1) RJT / Rey (Jedi Training)
2) Imperial Troopers
3) Bastila
4) Rex/Wampa/Probe Droid Suicide Madness
5) Qi'ra/Nest
6) CLS (Traya Slayer) - UPDATED TO ADD CHEWBACCA 10/01/2018
7) First Order (Traya Slayer)
8) Thrawn + Magma Trooper (Traya Slayer)
9) Droids w/ RJT Leader (Traya Slayer)
10) zFinn Resistance (Traya Slayer)
11) Nightsisters (Traya Slayer) added 10/01/2018
12) Bounty Hunters (Traya Slayer) - added 10/01/2018
13) Bounty Hunters (if you don't have the Traya-slaying team) - added 10/01/2018

1) RJT / Rey (Jedi Training)

Best Version:

RJT (L) / BB-8 / R2-D2 / Resistance Trooper / Rey (Scavenger)

What it beats:

Traya Lead (without Sith Trooper)
EP Lead (all variations)
CLS (all variations)
All sub-meta teams

What it loses to:

Nightsisters (HARD counter)
Traya Lead with Sith Trooper

What's important:

  • NEEDS BB-8 and R2-D2 both. Both speed the team up a lot. Those three are the core. Can't stress this enough. As many zetas as possible between these three is advised.
  • Against Traya lead (no Sith Trooper):
    • Use dispel on Sion to reduce his TM right away - try to keep him from getting many turns.
    • Try to take out Traya ASAP - even if you lose, it's a victory if Traya dies.
    • If you get stuck with Pain on everyone, you can focus down Sion relatively quickly with all your exposes. Scavenger does some crazy stuff with her second special.

2) Imperial Troopers (EP Slayer)

Best Version:

zVeers / Starck / Snow Trooper / Death Trooper / Range Trooper

What it beats:

EP lead (all variants)
Here's a video of the team beating EP lead
Nightsisters
Most sub-meta teams

What it loses to:

Traya lead
CLS
RJT

What's important:
  • NEEDS a fast Starck. Starck needs to be the fastest character on both teams, or the team doesn't work.
    • Remember, against teams with Vader, Vader is usually +64 speed
    • With Veers leadership, Stack is at +20
      • Makes it relatively easy to be the fastest character
  • NEEDS Range Trooper to beat EP
    • Range doesn't even need to be great in order to win - he just needs to have his special Omega'd.
      • I EASILY beat EP teams with him at 3*, G9.
  • NEEDS Veers zeta. Seems obvious, but everyone should be aware.
  • Team is very one-sided. You lose big or win big.

3) Bastila Shan Jedi

Best Team:

Bastila (L) / GMY / Hoda / Ezra / GK

What it beats:

EP Lead (all, easily)
Traya Lead (without Sith Trooper)
CLS
RJT
all sub-meta teams

What beats it:

Traya Lead (with Sith Trooper)
Mother Talzin Nightsisters

What's Important:
  • Zetas:
    • NEEDS these:
      • Bastila (leadership)
      • GMY (special)
    • Wants these:
      • Hoda (special)
      • Ezra (special)
    • Doesn't care about:
      • GMY (leadership)
      • Hoda (unique)
  • This team doesn't need great speed mods (they want to be at least 70 or 80 each, but don't need much more)
  • Traya lead is still tricky, even without a Sith Trooper. Try to focus down a single character at a time against this.

4) Rex/Wampa Suicide Madness

Best Versions:

Rex (L) / Wampa / Probe Droid / Tank / Tank (Tank/Tank can be Chaze)

What it beats:

CLS
Annoying Leaders

What beats it:

Everything but CLS

What's Important:
  • Wampa does double damage to Rebels, so going against CLS teams, he can one-shot zHan, and really does some nasty damage if he spools up his attack.
  • Probe Droid is there to take out leaders to decapitate teams.
    • Teams who lose their leader in TW can't use that leadership ability in subsequent battles
  • Tanks are there to protect Wampa for long enough that he kills everyone.
    • If it starts getting iffy, Probe Droid can explode and take out one of the strong Rebels
  • This squad is versatile in that it can either be used to take out an entire CLS squad, OR as a suicide squad to take out Traya, RJT, or even Enfys Nest if you're careful.

5) Qi'ra / Nest

Best Version:

Qi'ra (L) / Nest

What it beats:

Bastila Teams WITH GK

What it loses to:

Everything but Bastila Teams

What's Important:
  • Qi'ra needs to have her Leadership omega'd
  • I haven't found any sources showing minimum Nest requirements
    • Needs to be max G11 (i.e. G11 and all 5 pieces)
    • Benefits dramatically from a zeta
    • The more star levels, the better
  • This doesn't work against teams with Old Ben instead of General Kenobi.

6) CLS (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

New version: CLS (L) / Han Solo / Chewbacca / Enfys Nest / Thrawn
Original (worse) version: CLS (L) / Han Solo / zEnfys Nest / Thrawn / Tank (I'm keeping this part here so we can all chuckle about this years from now)

What it beats:

Traya Lead (here's a video of a few different team comps)
Most other Meta teams

What it loses to:

Not much - they have a harder time vs. Bastila, but they can still win

What's Important:
  • This team just overpowers others on offense. Mod Chewie with either CD/CC sets or with Offense - he doesn't even need to have a ton of speed. The idea is that the team just counters everything to death. Lots of other examples of this working if you care to look.

7) First Order (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

zKRU (L) / Kylo Ren / FOX / FOO / Phasma (seriously) --> Video Link
zKRU (L) / FOST / FOO / FOX / Thrawn --> Video Link

What it Beats:

Traya Lead
Other partially meta teams (you're going to struggle vs. RJT, for instance) (you probably want FOST in there instead of Phasma for most other matches)

What it loses to:

RJT
Other things (lol, FO is difficult to play well)

What's Important:
  • First, go watch this video.
  • FOO NEEDS to go first. The whole thing fails if he isn't the fastest character, including enemy characters, such as Nest.
    • Keep in mind, KRU gives out +30 SPD, and FOO is naturally fast. It should be relatively easy to have him go first, though if this is an off squad, it may be difficult to get him that fast with the mods you have.
  • The crux of this team is making sure FOX goes as often as he can, and that he has advantage as often as possible to bypass the frustrating Traya lead Crit Immunity.
  • Watching the video is probably going to do more than me spelling it all out for you. It's only 8 minutes. Worth a watch, if only to see a non-meta team destroying Traya.
8) Thrawn + Magma Trooper (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

Thrawn (L) / Magma Trooper / Death Trooper / Probe Droid / Veers (you could replace Veers with EP here so you can get a relatively quick Traya or Nihilus assassination with Probe Droid)

What it Beats:

Traya Lead

What it loses to:

Everything but CUP.

What's Important:
  • First, watch this video
  • This is an interesting match, which really depends on abusing Darth Sion's unique zeta.
    • If Sion for some reason doesn't have a zeta, this strategy WILL NOT WORK
  • The key is to have Magma shoot Sion, get debuffed from his unique, and gain crazy turn meter for himself.
    • Magma goes over and over and over again, slowly whittling down the enemy team with his AOE.
    • Look for an opportunity for Probe Droid to kill Nihilus or Traya.
      • The key is to get Thrawn to cleanse Probe Droid from his inevitable pain-lock, also giving Probe the next turn, who then proceeds to destroy Nihilus or Traya.
        • Please remember to wait until Probe's life is below max.
    • Once a character dies, you can start looking for opportunities to use Death Mark.
  • Magma needs to (unfortunately) be pretty high gear level, since he'll be doing most of your damage.
  • This strategy may only serve to destroy a couple of characters, which is also a win. Traya at this stage is pretty rough. Use Probe wisely...
9) Droids + RJT Lead (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

RJT (L) / BB-8 / R2-D2 / Probe Droid / T3-M4

What it Beats:

Traya Lead
EP Lead
Bastila Lead
Essentially all meta teams

What it loses to:

Not much - it's TERRIBLE on defense though

What's Important:
  • Here are a few videos:
  • It's important to note that the video shown has all of the zetas possible for this team. I don't think that's absolutely necessary, but I do think having the zetas on T3-M4 are likely importantish, since it buffs the whole team.
    • Probe Droid zeta is probably the least important of the zetas, and you could probably do without all of RJT zetas if you had to. But, her zetas are so good, why would you not get them all :)
  • This team is great and very appealing to me, because it means we have TWO Resistance teams that can beat Traya now, since Resistance Trooper isn't needed with RJT.
10) zFinn Resistance (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

zFinn / Poe / Resistance Trooper / optional: zHan, Scav Rey, Holdo, Resistance Trooper

What it Beats:

Traya Lead
zBarriss + GK
Some CLS teams

What it loses to:

Most meta teams.

What's Important:
  • First, watch this video:
  • You need Poe to be as fast as possible - he wants to be the fastest character in the fight.
    • If you can't get him fast enough, using zHan to stun the faster person usually works, because the faster person is usually either Nest or Thrawn, neither of which can Traya cleanse.
  • RT and Finn don't need speed on them - lots of potency needs to be their priority.
  • IMPORTANT: Use Poe's expose/taunt ability every chance you can (obvious). HOWEVER, remember that the character targeted is ALSO potentially going to be buff-blocked.
    • You want to buff-block Sith Trooper and Sion ASAP so that they can't gain taunt passively while you're attacking.
  • This is one of the easiest teams to make work, because only one character needs to have fast mods.
11) Nightsisters (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

zzTalzin / zAsajj / Daka / Zombie / Spirit

Alternate Version:

zzAsajj / zTalzin / Daka / Zombie / Spirit

What it Beats:

Traya Lead
Pretty much all other meta teams - these guys are high-powered on offense.

What it loses to:

Traya Lead is still somewhat difficult for them - they can manage it, but it takes some effort.

What's Important:

  • Nightsister Spirit needs to be geared as well as possible, to deal as much damage as possible.
  • With Talzin lead, you can keep one or two of your guys dead if you want - they'll keep being revived, making Asajj stronger.
    • I shouldn't have to tell you this, but make sure to keep Asajj and Daka alive.
  • I'm unsure if Isolate will prevent revives if the character is killed while isolated. At least one video above shows an Isolated Talzin coming back after being killed. May have been a glitch/bug though.
  • Things can start to look pretty grim vs. Traya lead, but NS are resilient AF. Keep on keeping on.
  • Target non-Sith first if at all possible. Thrawn will go down relatively quickly.
    • Kill order after that is Sith Trooper, Sion, Traya, Nihilus.
12) Bounty Hunters (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

zJango Fett (L) / Boba Fett / zBossk / Dengar / zNest

Alternate Version:

zJango Fett (L) / Boba Fett / zBossk / Dengar / Embo

What it Beats:

Traya Lead
Pretty much all other meta teams - these guys are high-powered on offense.

What it loses to:

zBastila Jedi. They lose HARD to them, due to the nature of Jango's contract.

What's Important:

  • You want to get Jango's contract as quickly as possible.
    • This is achieved by using AOEs early and often.
  • Once you have Jango's contract, you can target whoever you want because of the contract.
  • Jango has a very low health pool at 3* G11. It gets considerably better at G12, but keep in mind that he's very fragile at lower levels.
    • He still hits like a truck though, and so does his team.

13) Bounty Hunters (Traya Slayer)

Best Version:

zBossk (L) / Boba Fett / Dengar / Embo / Greedo (or Jango)

What it Beats:

CLS teams WITHOUT Chewbacca
First Order
Nightsisters
RJT

What it loses to:

zBastila
zPalpatine
zTraya
CLS teams w/ Chewbacca (depending on how strong your own BH are)

What's Important:

  • Try to get your contract right away (obviously).
  • This squad is pretty straightforward - keep in mind that zBossk has a VERY resilient squad, but there isn't a way to resurrect once they're dead.
  • Boba Fett can dispel with his special, as can Greedo. Use those dispels wisely.
  • Keep an eye on your opponent's mods - if they're extremely fast, maybe choose a target that is closer to your own speeds?
    • Honestly, that's just good advice for any TW matchup, lol.

More to come...
